Glyn Maddocks KC is a lawyer with extensive experience dealing with large value Personal Injury cases and now specialising in miscarriages of justice and human rights cases.   He joined Watkins & Gunn as a Consultant in 2022.

He is the founder / trustee of the Centre for Criminal Appeals (now called APPEAL), one of the first not for profit legal entities accredited by the SRA in the UK that assists the wrongfully convicted obtain high quality legal representation.

Glyn Maddocks has a special interest and expertise in dealing with serious miscarriage of justice cases referred to the Court of Appeal.  Notable cases include the infamous case of Tony Stock, the first case that the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) referred to the Court of Appeal for a second time.  Glyn has also represented Johnny Kamarra and Paul Blackburn, Michael Frost and Jamie Sneddon in their successful appeals against conviction.

Glyn Maddocks is also a member of the Law Society’s Human Rights Committee and has been actively involved in establishing an All Party Parliamentary Group in relation to miscarriages of justice and serves as the public point of contact for the group.  The APPG established a Westminster Commission co-chaired by Lord Garnier QC and Baroness Stern and Glyn Maddocks acts as a Special Advisor to this Commission which has its brief to investigate the ability of the criminal justice system, and in particular the CCRC to identify and rectify miscarriages of justice.

Glyn Maddocks was made an honorary KC in 2020 in recognition of his expertise in miscarriages of justice for more than 20 years.
