Moving house during lockdown

As from 27th July the housing market in Wales fully reopened. As an incentive to get the property market moving the Welsh Government announced a temporary increase to the nil rate band of Land Transaction Tax for main residences in Wales until 31 March 2021. The nil rate band for main rate transactions was  increased from £180,000 to £250,000. This has now been extended to 30 June 2021-  read our article here. In England reduced rates for Stamp Duty Land Tax apply for residential properties currently and this has also been extended to 30 June 2021. This means that you will only start to pay Stamp Duty for a property above £500,000. You can calculate the Stamp Duty for properties in England here
