We are delighted to announce Watkins & Gunn has won two awards at the inaugural Wales Legal Awards 2019.

The awards, created in partnership between boutique firm Lux Family Law, Grapevine Management and Wales Fast Growth 50, were established to celebrate the success of those practising in and providing services to the legal profession and to identify excellence in all parts of the legal community including claimant law, corporate and commercial, employment, property and construction, residential and conveyancing, and commercial litigation.

The event took place on Friday 17th May 2019 at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel where 50 finalists from 30 legal businesses across Wales went head-to-head in 16 categories.

We won two awards: Private Client Team of the Year, sponsored by SLD Wealth, and Family Law Team of the Year, sponsored by 30 Park Place.

Our award-winning Private Client Team is headed by Associate Solicitor Linda Dack, and has seven members, including four lawyers and three support staff. The team was chosen for its outstanding performance in providing ‘exceptional and bespoke’ legal advice to clients in relation to Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney and wealth management.

Linda said: “I am absolutely thrilled for the team to be recognised with this award.

“We consistently strive to provide the best standard of support to all clients, blending specialist and jargon free advice with empathy, care and compassion. Our team being recognised for their hard work, commitment and dedication has been the icing on the cake in what has been an exciting year of achievement.”

Our other success on the night was to win the Family Law Team of the Year Award.  Our Family Team, headed by leading family lawyer and Partner Sophie Hughes, is one of the largest specialist family law teams in South Wales.

Sophie said: “It is wonderful for the team to be singled out in this way. Over the last 15 years the team has grown to 11. This is well deserved recognition for them all in what was a hard fought category.

“Our clients come to us with complex and emotionally difficult legal problems, and we strive to give them the compassionate, specialist and support and advice that they need to help them through an extremely difficult time in their lives.”
