Our Fees
Newport Gwent Magistrates Court: £600 plus VAT
Cardiff Magistrates Court: £650 plus VAT
Fixed Fee Initial Telephone Advice: £125 plus VAT
Representation for Disqualification Hearing: £800 – £1200 plus VAT
Disbursements may be incurred for expert reports. It is not possible to provide precise details on this webpage of the cost of disbursements, but if disbursements are to be incurred then they will be discussed and reviewed with you before they are incurred.
Scope of Work
Fee includes:
- attendance/preparation;
- considering evidence;
- taking your instructions;
- providing advice on likely sentence;
- attendance and representation at a single hearing at the Magistrates Court.
The fee does not include:
- instruction of any expert witnesses;
- taking statements from any witnesses;
- advice and assistance in relation to a special reasons hearing;
- advice or assistance in relation to any appeal.
Key Stages
Time estimate: One Month
The key stages of your matter are based on the presumption that you have entered a guilty plea and have a date for your hearing:
- Conflict of interest check
- Meet with your solicitor to give your instructions on what happened.
- Anti-Money laundering Identity checks
- We will consider initial disclosure, and any other evidence and provide advice.
- Arranging to take any witness statements if necessary (this will have an additional hourly rate cost of £225 plus VAT).
- If any additional hearings are required then we would anticipate the cost to be between £400 to £750 plus VAT per hearing.
- We will explain the court procedure to you so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing, and the sentencing options available to the court.
- We will conduct any further preparatory work, obtain further instructions from you if necessary and answer any follow up queries you have.
- We cannot provide a timescale of when your hearing will take place, as this depends on the court listing for the day
- We will attend court on the trial day and meet with you before going to the court.
- We will discuss the outcome with you. If advice is required on appeal, it will carry an additional cost.

The cost would depend upon the length of trial and number of witnesses to be interviewed. We would estimate the likely range to be between £1000 to £1750 plus VAT.

- Initial meeting with your solicitor to give your instructions
- Anti-Money laundering Identity checks
- Attend initial hearing to enter not guilty plea.
- Consider prosecution evidence,
- Obtain any supporting witness evidence.
- Instruct appropriate expert, fee to be advised
- Attend court on the trial day and meet with you before going to the court.
- Discuss the outcome with you. If advice is required on appeal, it will carry an additional cost.
The fee does not include:
- instruction of any expert witnesses;
- advice or assistance in relation to any appeal
Key Stages
Time estimate: Three Months.
It is estimated that a trial in the Magistrates Court would be resolved within approximately three months, dependent upon the length of trial and any delays with Court listing.
