Amy is an Associate Solicitor working in our Private Client department. She began her training with us as a trainee solicitor in November 2016. After gaining experience in other areas of law including Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Property Law she has chosen to specialise in Private Client work. She qualified into the department on 1 November 2018 and was promoted to Associate in 2023.
Experience
Amy assist clients in a range of Later Life matters and has gained significant experience in Will drafting including Right of Occupation and also prepares and advises in relation to Deeds of Variation, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate (both grant only and full administration). Her current workload is split between Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (60%) and Probate – (40%).
In 2019, the Watkins and Gunn Private Client Team won the Inaugural Wales Legal Award Team of the year.
Amy completed the Institute of Leadership and Management Level 2 Award in Team Skills through Chwarae Teg in January 2020, which has enabled her to take on more responsibility within the Private Client Department.
In February 2022 Amy carried out training with Alzheimer’s Society and became a Dementia Friend. Amy became a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly in July 2022.
Amy is based in our Pontypool office, but travels to see clients in all of our offices. The Supervising Director for the Team is Sophie Hughes.

Outside of Work:
Amy is a member of the Risca Ladies Netball Club – playing netball as well as having an active role as a committee member. She is also a keen jogger and horse-rider.
