Leading Welsh solicitors Watkins and Gunn are celebrating after having two lawyers shortlisted for Law Society Excellence Awards.
Managing Partner, Clive Thomas, has been shortlisted for the LMS Leader of the Year and Lynette Vaughan, an Associate, has been shortlisted for the Legal Executive of the Year Award.
Mr Thomas has also been appointed to the Law Society’s Wales Committee. He will serve on the committee for the next three years where he will be responsible for reporting to the Law Society on the views of the Welsh legal community. The Committee also monitors the progress of devolution in Wales and works closely with the Welsh Assembly.
Mr Thomas said: “I’m delighted that Lynette and I have both been shortlisted for these auspicious awards. I am also looking forward to serving on the Wales Committee and having a real input and voice in the development of legal services in Wales. This has been an extremely positive month, for the firm that will further raise Watkins & Gunn's profile as one of the UK's leading firms.”
Lynette initially joined Watkins and Gunn in 1998 as an office junior and has risen through the ranks to become an Associate and one of the firm’s top fee earners.
Clive added: “We are extremely proud of Lynette and all that she has achieved over the past few years. Lynette is an excellent lawyer and she thoroughly deserves to be recognised by the Law Society in this way. She is an example to everyone of what can be achieved through hard work.”
The Excellence Awards are the most sought-after legal awards of the year. Individual awards are presented to exceptional individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the legal profession during the year. The awards will be presented by BBC broadcaster Mishal Husain at a prestigious black tie dinner and presentation ceremony in London on 18 October.
