Gwent solicitors win top legal award
A law firm with offices in Pontypool and Newport has been judged one of the best in the UK after winning one of the Law Society’s annual Excellence Awards.
Watkins & Gunn Solicitors was the only Welsh firm to scoop an award at the prestigious black tie ceremony in London, picking up the Lexcel Award in Practice Management.
Lexcel, the Law Society’s practice management standard, continues to drive excellence in the profession and to set Lexcel accredited organisations apart from their competitors. This Award rewards excellence in practice management and service delivery from practices that have successfully implemented the Lexcel standards.
Attended by more than 550 leading lawyers from across England and Wales and joined by the President of the Law Society and BBC Broadcaster Mishal Husain, the awards rewarded the most outstanding practitioners and firms in the legal field.
On Watkins & Gunn’s entry the Judges said: "Watkins & Gunn has a remarkable story of achievement. Since adopting Lexcel, they have transformed areas originally identified as weaknesses into major areas of strength.
"Their most recent assessment noted no non-compliances and highlighted a total of 31 areas of good practice. Client satisfaction is running at an all time high, and they have consistently increased annual fee income in spite of the current financial climate".
Robert Heslett, Law Society President said, "The standard of entries received for the third annual excellence awards has been superb and reflects the high level of innovation that exists across the legal profession. The process of selecting the shortlist was extensive due to the vast number of entries this year.
“Judging these awards was a real privilege and all the short listed entries should be extremely proud of their achievement. These winners have made the promotion of best practice an integral part of their work. These awards are part of the Law Society's commitment to promoting excellence in legal services. Over recent years, the solicitors' profession has taken significant steps in the area of innovation. We hope that these awards, which celebrate the very best in our great profession, will bring benefits for both staff and clients."
Managing partner, Clive Thomas said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won what we consider to be the most auspicious category of the Excellence Awards. We pride ourselves on the service that we provide our clients and winning this award recognises that the work we are doing for them is some of the best in the UK. The award acknowledges the outstanding achievements of our staff and we are immensely proud and grateful for the work they do for us.
“We hope to be able to build upon the success that we have achieved this year by continuing to provide our clients with an excellent service.” |
