Reviewing your Will?
If you get married…
Marriage automatically revokes your Will. Therefore, if you made a Will before you got married it will automatically become invalid.
New additions to the family…
If you have additional children, grandchildren or nieces and nephews, it is important to review your Will to ensure that it still reflects your wishes.
Divorce…
Divorce does not revoke your Will. However any gift to the former spouse will be dealt with as if passes as if your former spouse died at the date of the divorce.
A Change in your financial circumstances…
If your financial circumstances change, you should review your Will to ensure your estate is not exposed to any unnecessary Inheritance Tax liability and to ensure specific cash legacies to your loved ones are reflective of your financial position.
A change of heart …
You may simply change your mind and want to make changes to your Will.
Regularly reviewing your Will is just as important as making one in the first place!
If you chose to make a Will with Watkins and Gunn Solicitors, we offer a free Will review service.
